One of the oldest and most respected colleges in Durham, set in an idyllic row of Georgian houses between the Cathedral and the River Wear, John's Hall has a totally unique atmosphere.

Fides Nostra Victoria "Faith is our victory"

Boasting a lively and diverse mix of undergraduates, postgraduates and trainee clergy, St John's is like no other Durham college. As one of the smallest colleges, it is renowned for its welcoming and supportive atmosphere. The College itself is set in a series of beautiful listed buildings in Durham's historic heart, with stunning views of the Norman Cathedral and River Wear.

St John's is independent of the University, both financially and administratively. Our students study for University degrees alongside members of other colleges, but we have the freedom to do things a little differently.

St John's graduates are found doing many different things throughout the world. The Fair Trade movement, for instance, was set up by a John's graduate. So whatever your passion and background, whoever you want to be, check us out. You won't be disappointed.
