St John's College - Hospitality

Welcome to St. John's College, located in the City of Durham, opposite the magnificent Norman Cathedral, which has been designated a World Heritage Site. Most of the College buildings were originally occupied by members of the Garrison and court of the Prince Bishops, possessing fascinating histories dating back to the fifteenth century. The College now consists of a continuous and fully connecting line of fine and attractive Georgian buildings. Former occupants include the widow of Dean Whittingham (translator of the Geneva Bible), and the Bowes-Lyon and Eden families. A regular visitor was Alice Liddell - the inspiration for Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland.
We offer comfortable accommodation at special rates during the Spring and Summer vacations, which allows guests to experience the history and delights of Durham City and surroundings. Information from Durham City Tourism.
