November 1st

For the Orthodox Community who worship in the Chapel of St Mary the Less on Sundays. For Andrew Louth who leads this community.

2nd

for any in  St John’s College community experiencing ill health, praying for healing and hope.

3rd

for the College Officer Team as they meet this morning, giving thanks for their work.

For Cranmer Committee meeting today.

For tonight’s College Communion service

4th

give thanks for all agencies which support students: University Counselling Services, the University Health Centre, Nightline, student run welfare committees, the work of Senior Tutors and Chaplains across the university.

5th

give thanks for the work of the Development Office. Pray for Charlotte Gilman and Katie Mackay in their work with outreach and alumni.

6th

 

Give thanks for local churches for all they do to support students, pray for them in their outreach initiatives to the student community.

7th

 

for Sheila Hall, Jan Nicholson, Dorothy Greenwell and Sue Johnson, in their various administrative roles.

 

8th

 

 

for all those responsible for planning and shaping the liturgy and for preaching at College services. Pray for vision, sensitivity, imagination and inspiration.

9th

Pray for all members of College Council under the Chairmanship of Bishop John Pritchard

For members of the Kitchen Team: Nicky Seal, Jacki Greenwood, Lena Jolly, Jean Naisbitt. Ting Lee and Kelly Pattinson,

for the College Officer Team as they meet this morning, giving thanks for their work.

for the College Communion Service this evening

for college sports teams, that they might provide a place of identity, belonging and achievement for students. Pray for safety for the rowing club on the river, and for safety in all sports fixtures.

12th

give thanks for the work of the College Librarian, Jane Ghosh.

13th

For the Edith Jackson Trust and the work in Rokon, Southern Sudan. Pray for all pupils and staff at the Rokon School and for the work of Bp Francis Loyo.

14th

for the one day conference on Preaching Luke’s Gospel, happening today at St John’s college. Pray that delegates might be enriched, equipped and inspired by this event.

 

 

 

15th

that God would be at the centre of the College’s vision for the future, giving discernment and insight to all those involved in shaping the direction of the College.

16th

for the preaching survey being undertaken by CODEC on behalf of the College of preachers and for Ben Blackwell, Pete Phillips and Kate Bruce as they work on this.

17th

for the College Officer Team as they meet this morning, giving thanks for their work.

for the College Communion Service this evening

for the evening catering team: Dawn Rose, Christine Davison, Dianne String, Holly Seal, Stephanie Matthews, Kim Simpson and Kate Todd

for the work of University Chaplains across the Durham Colleges.

for the relationship between the College and the local churches, that God would inspire creative and supportive links.

for the relationship between the College and the Cathedral, giving thanks for the opportunity we have to worship in the cathedral space and praying about the practicalities of liaising over services etc. and giving thanks for the support of Revd David Sudron, Succentor

Give thanks for the generosity and support of the St John’s Society – the association of old students from St. John's College

for all visiting lecturers, preachers and teachers to the College

Continue to pray for the work of the Edith Jackson Trust Fund

26th

for the families and friends of ministers in training at Cranmer/WSC – particularly for those who find their friends/relations’ vocation difficult to understand, that through them they would discover the reality of God.

27th 

for the Chapel Choir under the direction of George Richford

28th

 

pray for the Senior Tutor and Chaplain in their welfare roles.

 

 

 

29th

that members of College might discover God more deeply in ways they have not anticipated before – perhaps through music, art, nature, film, poetry, literature, the internet… Pray for imagination and openness to the power and possibility of God.

30th

for any students experiencing academic difficulties, or course related problems. For a sense of perspective and good support from the relevant agencies.
