TV Lounges

We have two TV lounges; one at our Bailey Site and one at Parsons Field in Brooks House. Both provide a great space for relaxing with friends and watching your favourite programme, chilling out with a DVD or playing a game on the Wii console.

Our Bars

...probably the best college bars in the world!

The college bars (Bailey Bar and Brooks Bar at Parsons Field) are generally pretty busy places because of their chilled out, welcoming atmospheres, array of facilities, and friendly staff.

Both bars are managed by a member of University staff, the Bar Steward. The role of the Bar Steward, who is line-managed by the college Bursar (Club Steward), is to ensure the bars are managed to a high standard.

Both bars offer employment to students; all bar staff are 'Cuth's' students which means that the college not only offers work experience but a student-friendly atmosphere. Both bars have the prestigious 'Best Bar None' status; these bars are widely regarded across the University as some of the best bars in Durham City.

Opening Hours

Both bars are open from 12.30pm every day and shut at 11pm except for later closing time of midnight on Friday and Saturday and early closing at 10.30pm on Sundays. The bars offer a combination of hot and cold drinks, alcoholic and non alcholic and a selection hot and cold snacks. It is also great value for money!
