Fundraising
Fundraising is an important part of the work of the Principal. Please feel free to contact the Principal via sharon.richardson@durham.ac.uk if you wish to discuss how you can donate to St Cuthbert's Society. The main route to donate is via www.dunelm.org.uk/stcuthberts and our current projects are listed below.
Military Scholarships
In 1946, St Cuthbert's Society was re-founded by a group of young men who had played a vital role in World War 11. To honour the memory of this group, from October 2010, the college introduced a military scholarship for a student who had secured a place on an academic course at Durham having spent a minimum of four years in one of the UK's armed forces and received an honourable discharge.
Thanks to the generosity of a fellow Cuth's alumnus (and ex-army officer), we are not able to significantly improve our Military Scholarship provision. His pledge of £24,000 will allow the college to offer two scholarships of £3000 per annum for the next four years towards college fees (residence and catering). He hopes that his gift will secure additional funding from the alumni. Would you consider supporting this? Should you wish to support this appeal, please see www.dunelm.org.uk/stcuthberts I hope you agree that that is a project worthy of your support
Thank you and best wishes,
Sir Nicholas V Scheele KCMG (President of the Alumni Association)
Community Hub
As part of our drive to improve the community space for our students, we are currently fundraising for a new Community Hub on the Bailey. This will consist of offices, seminar rooms and community area which will be available to all students. If you wish to donate, please see www.dunelm.org.uk/stcuthberts or send a cheque to St Cuthbert's Society, 12 South Bailey, Durham, DH1 3EE made payable to the University of Durham.
