St Cuthbert's Society - A College Of Durham University

JCR

What is the Junior Common Room?

The Junior Common Room (JCR) is the student body of St. Cuthbert's Society. The JCR President is responsible for the running of the JCR with the support of the JCR Executive, all of whom are elected by the students.  It is a registered charity and a recognised JCR within the University.  For more details about the relationship between the college and the JCR, please see the College Council page

The college has c1300 students and unlike the majority of colleges, both undergraduates and postgraduates form our JCR. Every member is welcome to participate in all of our activities and run for election to any position on the JCR Exec. This is a great opportunity to take on an important leadership role and develop impressive skills.

The JCR supports a wide variety of sports teams and societies, which include arts, music and drama. Every JCR club or society is eligible to receive funding, which is allocated and approved at a JCR meeting. The JCR, on behalf of the college, is responsible for the operation of the gyms, the computer rooms and the library.
