 St Cuthbert's Society - Celebrating 125th Anniversary in 2013

Welcome to the St Cuthbert's Society website

St Cuthbert's Society is a college of Durham University; we are a scholarly community offering an unrivalled student experience steeped in history but forward-looking.  We celebrate our 125th Anniversary in 2013 and we hope that all members of our community will get involved.  We are one of the largest colleges and appeal to a wide range of people; we are the only college to offer a range of accommodation and catering options to suit a variety of lifestyles. Our diverse student body means that people of all ages, nationalities and backgrounds socialise together and learn from each other in our welcoming, friendly environment.  As a scholarly community we anticipate that prospective students who choose St Cuthbert's intend to work hard at their academic studies but also to participate in college life.  We support and encourage your learning, both in and outside the classroom, and want and expect the best from and for our students.

Arts and Culture Week 2013

In 2009, Cuth's started its first Arts and Culture Week under the management of the Vice Principal/Senior Tutor, Sharon Richardson. It's now in its fourth year and it is becoming more and more popular with students, staff and other members of our diverse community.

8th June to 15th June 2013

(14 May 2013)

Launch of 125th Anniversary

Cuth's 125th anniversary year began, very appropriately, with a series of events on St Cuthbert's Day, March 20th. A reception held in the dining hall was attended by a broad cross-section of the community: students and JCR officers (who had been doing sterling service as Open Day Reps), college staff, SCR members (some of whom had just completed the final leg of the Cuthbert's Way pilgrimage from Chester-le-Street to the Cathedral, and had the mud stains to prove it), and guests including the University Treasurer, the Dean of the Cathedral, and several Vice Principa/ Senior Tutors from other colleges.
