Library Committee

Librarian:
Rob Friswell (2008/9)

The Librarian shall manage all aspects of the Society library. He shall ensure its availability to members via inter alia the recruitment and deployment of sub- librarians and ensure that its stock is kept up to date and relevant to the needs of Society members and ensure its security. He shall further ensure the funding of the library through liaison with the Society Accountant.

Assistant Librarian:
Jamie Holbech(2008/9)

The JCR shall elect from its contributing members, via election method (i) as per (XIX) below, one Assistant Librarian who shall be a member of the Library Committee and whose duty shall be to assist the Librarian with all aspects of the day to day management of St. Cuthbert’s Society Library. He/she will be specifically responsible for the management and training of staff in conjunction with the Librarian.

The Treasurer:
Tom Wakelam (2008/9)

The Treasurer shall be responsible for the maintenance and management of all library finances. He/she will also be responsible for the payment of invoices and for processing money from fines. He/she will be responsible for constructing an annual budget alongside the Librarian, Sabbatical Society President and relevant Society staff.

The Stock Manager:
Rachel Smith (2008/9)

The Stock Manager will be responsible for book ordering, requests and the buy back system. Furthermore, he/she will be responsible for the annual stock take and the shop stock.

All Library committee members shall perform other duties requested by the Librarian within reason. The Library Committee shall meet at least twice term and shall include Stock Manager, Treasurer, Assistant Librarian, Librarian and Sabbatical Society President.

Senior-Sub Librarians

The Librarian can appoint these members of Senior Staff from those Junior Sub-Librarians who he feels have been particularly hard-working, conscientious and reliable throughout the year. The appointment of six members of Senior Staff gives the Library a large but focused working team, and furthermore facilitates there always being a member of Senior Staff working the final shift of any given day, in which shift can DVDs and Videos be loaned, borrower details be updated, and the Library securely locked up by a key-holding member of staff. Three members of the Senior-Sub group will be allocated to help a specific member of the Library Committee either the Assistant Librarian, the Treasurer, or the Stock Manager.

Junior Librarians

Junior Sub-Librarians are employed from members of the JCR, and help the Library work to its full capacity. All Junior Staff members are fully trained to answer borrower questions and carry out loans, returns, renewals and recall operations on the Library’s computer software. Junior Staff can also help you find the book on the searchable catalogues, and on the shelves.
