Cuth’s Bars

Situated on South Bailey, Cuth’s Bar is the spiritual home of all Cuth’s students past and present. Located in Brooks’ house at Parsons Field, the younger sister of an old favourite looks set to offer the same great Cuth’s experience in a fantastic new location. Here is a brief look at some of the facilites we to offer.

Brooks House

On tap, the cafe serves Fosters, Carlsberg, Kronenberg, Tetley’s, Strongbow, Guiness and a guest Ale. We also have a large stock of spirits, bottled beverages, soft drinks, tea and coffee. A wide variety of crisps, nuts, muffins, flapjacks and Paninis are also available should you feel hungry. Come and experience the Cafe for yourself.

Cuths Bar

The Bailey bar serves 3 guest Ales, 3 premium lagers on draught, Carlsberg, Fosters, Tetley’s, Strongbow and Guinness. A huge array of spirits – make sure you attempt the Alphabet challenge! – Bottled Beers and Bulmers, plus for those who do not drink soft drinks galore at only 50p a pint! We also stock a prolific range of snacks: crisps, nuts, muffins, flapjacks, Paninis and sandwiches. No trip to Cuth’s bar is complete without experiencing the bars own special drink The Browney Bomber. The bar is also the home and workplace of our very own bar mascots Lash Penguin, Lash Puma and the all seeing Bully! To add to all this, we are also officially the cheapest student bar in Durham!

Back Bar

Having heard your comments about the difficulty of purchasing drinks at peak times. We took heed of your advice and have installed a new bar in the Pool Room. Serving much the same stuff as the Main Bar and also paninis. Proving to you, our loyal customers, that we have only your interests at heart!

Beer Garden

The picturesque Beer Garden is located behind the bar. With the delightful patio warmed by Gas heaters you are able to enjoy its delights throughout the year. Sit on benches or the grass and enjoy a beverage in the sun. Throughout the year the Beer Garden is host to many a random ent or social, as well as to the majority of the Durham student body in the post exams loveliness that is the month of June in Durham! From a birthday yard through to Divine Comedy performing at Cuth’s Day, the beer garden is the ideal place to sit back and relax with your beverage of choice.

Pool Table

If it is good enough for the brilliant Cuth’s pool team then it’s good enough for you! The cafe pool table is loacted in Brooks’ house JCR, behind the Cafe. At 30p a go, a table is also located at the games room bar on the Bailey. We provide the cues and chalk but you’re welcome to use your own.

Darts Board

Once again situated in the Games Room this Darts Board is free for all to use and we even provide the arrows for you if you haven’t got any yourself.

Plasma Screens

Showing the ubiquitous neighbours twice daily, as well as Hollyoaks. Both the Bailey bar and the Cafe cater for all your sporting needs. Showing all Premiership football (Sky Sports and Prem Plus!), Champions League action, Guinness Premiership Rugby and a vast array of other sporting events. Shown on 3 Plasma Screens and a projector on the Bailey and 3 plasma screens in the cafe.

Recent events include shown in Cuth’s include the Rugby world cup 2008 and The Ricky Hatton vs Floyd Mayweather fight.
