How much would you be prepared to pay for a Cuth's Yearbook?

  • FAQ

Here are a few simple answers to some of the questions some of you might be thinking about…

Q/ What can we expect from Freshers week?

A/ See the full itinerary section for up to date progress on plans as they get confirmed.

Q/ Which accomodation should I choose?

A/ All accomodation in Cuth’s is great, and you’ll be happy wherever you end up, so don’t stress too much! The three basic options are: 1. Live on the Bailey, and be fully catered, 2. Live at Parsons Field in Brook’s House and be fully SELF catered and have an en-suite bathroom, or 3. Live elsewhere on Parson’s Field (i.e. in Fonteyn Court, Refounders House or Parsons Field Court) and be EITHER fully self catered, OR have 10 meals a week in Cuth’s. Try the ‘Virtual tour’ section or ask our current students in the forum for more info.

Both the Bailey and Parson’s Field sites have advantages (and disadvantages!), but the experience will be largely the same: everyone is part of Cuth’s, everyone has access to facilities such as washing rooms, the gym and tv rooms, and everyone will have a great time!

    Q/ I don’t drink a lot – will I be excluded from Freshers’ Week?

A/ In a word, NO! There should be something for everyone to enjoy in Freshers Week, so just try to get involved as much as you can, meet as many people as you can, and you’re bound to find some like-minded people. In an institution known as ‘the party college’ of Durham you’d be surprised at the number of tee-totallers we have, many of whom can party with the best of them! So don’t worry.

    Q/ What’s the food like?

A/ Surprising nice! Meals are generally balanced and tasty, and this year there was always a salad option if you prefer something lighter. There have been some issues with portion size, but these have largely been resolved, and there’s always extra bread and a big pudding to fill you up.
