How much would you be prepared to pay for a Cuth's Yearbook?

  • Social life

Whilst most Durham students fall into the 18-21 category, St. Cuthbert’s Society has the largest number of undergraduate mature students. To celebrate this, we hold an annual Burns Night Formal, which mature students have priority booking for.

Formals are essentially “minature balls”. They are a great chance to catch up with friends, as well as meet some new ones. As a mature student, there will always be tickets set aside especially for you (this applies to local, international, part-time and postgrad sudents too), and if you don’t live in Durham but don’t want to pay a fortune for taxis, you are welcome to stay the night at Brooks House for a small fee.

Formals are a fundamental part of the university experience. They are great fun and I encourage you to come to all of them!

Beyond formals, there will also be many other events I recommend you try out. I’ll be arranging regular meals out (Durham has some great restaurants), as well as an informal catch-up in Cuth’s bar every so often. One thing I’d like to emphasise is that, whilst we are certainly heavyweights at Cuth’s, not everything here revolves around drinking. Whether you’re into theatre, live music, comedy, sports, poker, or anything else, Durham has it, so get your £3000’s worth and get involved!
