St. Cuthbert’s Society has excellent accommodation facilities. We are also the only institution in Durham to offer a choice of full board, self-catering, semi-catered and ‘pay as you go’ catering options.
Cuth’s accommodation is situated on two sites, on Durham’s historic Bailey and also at Parson’s Field near Durham’s picturesque riverside. Despite having two separate distinct sites the bond between them is very strong and students make use of the facilities available on both sites.
All rooms are connected to the University high-speed data network, providing Internet access, at no extra cost. All Kitchens, showers, rooms and communal areas are cleaned at least once a week.
South Bailey
The Society is proud to have accommodation on Durham’s historic South Bailey, close to the Cathedral. In total 110 first year students live here, all fully-catered. It’s just a short walk to the shops in Durham City Centre and all the main University departments are nearby. The South Bailey is also home to Cuths Bar, Library, TV Room and Weights Gym amongst other facilities.
Parsons Field
The Society also boasts the Parsons Field site next to Durham City Rugby Club and Social Science departments on Old Elvet. All rooms here are single, and accommodates 150 first years in standard rooms, and 190 returning students in brand-new ensuite rooms. Parsons Field also houses Brooks Bar and the Cardio Gym amonst other things.
