SCR Executive Committee

The SCR Exec is made up of elected members, each of whom perform different roles in ensuring the smooth running of the SCR. Each member and their role and contact information can be found below. General SCR contact information can be found on the right.

President

Cameron Clegg Mr. Cameron Clegg (c.b.clegg@durham.ac.uk)

Cameron Clegg, lovingly called "The Coalition," is a PhD student studying Ancient Roman Animal Husbandry, with a particular focus on the animal bones recovered from Binchester, Roman Fort, a nearby Roman military establishment and neighboring civilian settlement, located in Bishop Auckland. As SCR President, he is the SCR's representative outside of Aidan's, communicating with other colleges and the DSU. Additionally, it is his privilege to aid all of the other fantastic members of the SCR Exec in their endeavors, trying to help them out in whatever way he can. He received his BA in Anthropology and History from the University of California, San Diego, and his MSc in Archaeological Science here in Durham. He also has the distinct pleasure of being from Southern California. Yes he knows how to surf, no he doesn't know any celebrities. He always enjoys good conversation, scotch and top hats.

Chair

Fenton Coulthurst Mr. Fenton Coulthurst (fenton.coulthurst@durham.ac.uk)

Fenton is studying for an MA in English Literature. As SCR Chair he is in charge of interpreting the constitution, organising Senior Common Room and Executive Committee meetings and coordinating the various SCR officers. He received his first-class BA in English Literature from Durham, at St Aidan's College. As an undergraduate, he was the Theatre Chair for the college's Junior Common Room and was involved with zombie-based public performances. He co-hosts a film review show on Purple Radio and is an avid geek and post-structuralist.

Treasurer

Jacob Mbwele Mr. Jacob Mbwele (j.a.mbwele@durham.ac.uk)

Jacob Mbwele is a student in Msc. Finance and Investment. As a treasurer has a watchdog role over all aspects of financial management, working closely with other members of the Exec to safeguard the SCR's finances. Some of his responsibilities are to produces a budget for the SCR, maintains the records of expenditures, handles all cash receipts and payments through cash/cheques, reporting and maintaining constant communication with college administration regarding all the matters pertaining to finance and following up to ensure members pay their annual membership fees in time. Jacob received his Bachelor of Commerce majoring in Corporate Finance from University of Dar-es-Salaam in Tanzania. He has three years of working experience with PricewaterhouseCoopers Tanzania as senior financial auditor which is the job he still holds. Apart from studies, Jacob enjoys playing Basketball and Pool and he currently plays for St.Aidan’s college Pool A-team and Basketball team.

Secretary

Helen Brown Miss Helen Brown (helen.brown2@durham.ac.uk)

Helen is an English Literature MA student. Her role as Secretary for the SCR involves taking minutes for executive committee and general SCR meetings, editing and updating the SCR handbook, communicating with the wider SCR, and welcoming new postgraduates at the start of the year. Helen completed her undergraduate degree at Queen's University, Belfast. In her spare time she enjoys sailing, and playing guitar and violin.

Social Secretary

Richenda Leonard Miss Richenda Leonard (r.c.m.leonard@durham.ac.uk)

Richenda is studying for an MA in Anthropological Research Methods specialising in Development. As Social Secretary she is in charge of organising all the various social events with the help of her lovely Social Committee. She received her Joint Undergraduate Masters Degree from the University of Aberdeen in English and Anthropology. Richenda finished her pre-university education in New Mexico in the USA studying the IB in a United World College. As an undergraduate she was the co-president of the Anthropology Society and a member of the Aberdeen Student Union's Welfare and Equal Opportunities Committee.

Postgraduate Representative (International)

Hao Zhou Miss Hao Zhou (hao.zhou@durham.ac.uk)

Hao Zhou is the new PG Rep. of St Aidan's SCR. She comes from Chengdu, a great city in southwest China known for its citizens' cozy life style. After four years of undergraduate study majoring in English-Chinese translation, she came to Durham University for an MA in TESOL. The enchanting scenery, her cute white-cottage, fresh air and wonderful friends, altogether keep her far away from nostalgia. As the PG rep., her duty is to represent the opinion of international students and report potential issues they encounter to both the SCR exec and college council.

Postgraduate Representative

Hendrick Townsley Mr. Hendrick Townsley(t.h.townsley@durham.ac.uk)

Hendrick is the second PG Rep of St Aidan's SCR. He is studying for an MA in International Studies, focusing on the International Relations of the Middle East. Although his name might suggest differently, he was born and raised in Rome where he received an Undergraduate Degree in Arabic Language and Culture. As Livers' In Rep, he is responsible for the welfare of all postgrads living in college, which he aims to obtain either by cooking proper Italian food for everyone or by communicating to the "higher spheres" any complaints, requests or suggestions.

Postgraduate Representative

Nic Watkins Mr. Nic Watkins(Nicholas.watkins@durham.ac.uk)

Nic is the third PG of St Aidan's SCR. Having completed his undergrad at Bath in IR and spent time working internationally for UNDP, he is currently studying for an MSc in Conflict Preventions, Peacebuilding and Security. As PG rep, he is your representative in the SCR, speak to him about any concerns you have and he will make sure the exec hears them. Nic has a special responsibility for livers’ out and a passion to see them more involved in the exec and Aidans College in general. In his spare time, Nic can be found playing football for Aidans or on either side of the collage bar.

Web Officer

Matthieu Schaller Mr. Matthieu Schaller (matthieu.schaller@durham.ac.uk)

Matthieu is a PhD student in physics focusing on the simulation of galaxies on computers. His task in the SCR is to maintain the website and the different mailing lists. He is also responsible for any thing that involves an interaction with a computer or any sort of electric device. Matthieu received his first degrees from the EPFL in Switzerland, speaks French and German and spent one year in London as an ERASMUS student. Despite his natural geekiness arising from his studies, Matthieu plays badminton for both Aidan's team and the staff team and occasionally disturbs his neighbors by playing a bit of clarinet.
