SCR Activities

Here you can find information relating to the events and activities which all SCR members are invited to participate in.

Formal Dinners

College Formals take place three times a term and are usually followed by entertainment put on by the JCR. The JCR organises a theme for each of the Formals and then come in fancy dress to match the theme, which makes for a very lively atmosphere!

Members of the SCR are invited to dine on the High Table with the College Principal. We meet for pre dinner drinks in the SCR and then process into the Dining Hall behind the principle to sit at the High Table. The dress code for Formals is a lounge suit for men and a smart equivalent for women, although at the Informal Ball the SCR is encourage to join the JCR in fancy dress!

Members' Nights

Our very special SCR Members' Nights are held three times a term. These events are our regular SCR social gathering and each one is designed to bring together as many members as possible to enjoy a delicious meal and fabulous entertainment. We have had a wide variety of themes for our members' nights over the years, including the ever popular wine and whisky tastings, Burn's Night, Chinese New Year celebrations, poetry readings, circus workshops, belly dancing displays, a Medieval Banquet and many more besides!

Members' Nights are always very popular and numbers are unlimited, so you can bring as many guests as you wish. If you have an idea for a Members' Night or a talent that you would like to share, then please get in touch with Richenda Leonard (Social Secretary).

Gatherings

As well as the Members' Nights and Formal Dinners, there are also less formal gatherings organised by our Social Committee. These range from film nights, to cake afternoons and game nights in the SCR. These will all be listed in our events calendar and usually take place in the Common Room. Feel free to come along and get involved!
