Study spaces
The Library
Our spacious library is hidden away in a quiet part of college away from the accommodation. It is open 24 hours a day and contains 13 network computers. There is plenty of desk space and in the run up to exams the Shincliffe and Bailey Rooms are also made available for students as dedicated study areas.
The library, with its wonderful view of the Cathedral, comprises approximately 12000 volumes and aims to provide copies of core texts for undergraduates from course reading lists. Where possible, this is suplemented by a wider reading range. This often saves people a trip to the main University Library. These can be checked out in the evening when the library is manned by student librarians.
The Library catalogue is available on-line via the University Library's website and DUO as well as the OPAC machines in the University Libraries.
Borrowing Hours
Books are available for borrowing during staffed library hours in term-time:
| Sunday - Friday | 7pm - 9pm |
| Saturday & Sunday | 2pm - 4pm |
- The library is closed for College formals.
- In the Easter term, the Library is also open at lunchtimes between 1pm and 2pm, Mondays to Fridays and the Shincliffe Room is made available as extra study space.
- Borrowing hours are managed by a team of eight Student Librarians, who deal with the issue and return of books.
