DURHAM UNIVERSITY SPELEOLOGICAL ASSOCIATION

About us

DUSA is a group of people dedicated to going caving, normally in Yorkshire, where we visit caves near Ingleton, or the surrounding area. Trips run most weekends, alternating between Saturday and Sunday, and occasionally the whole weekend (usually to somewhere further afield). We’re one of the smaller clubs in Durham, but we’re also one of the friendliest. We can almost always alter trips to cater for whoever wants to come. Check out the notice board to see what we have planned for this term and beyond, or contact the club by email, for more information.

We welcome anyone at any experience level, and if you fancy a try, just send the club (or the secretary) an email. You don’t need any special equipment, just some warm clothes, some waterproofs and some wellies if you have them. The club may be able to lend you some of these things, and we will provide all the rest of the equipment you need. For more information have a look at our information for beginners.

How to find us

If you’re interested in caving, or fancy trying something a bit different from anything the other “sporting” clubs Durham can offer, you can find us on Thursday nights at training (18:00 at Hild Bede East Gym), or in the pub after training (about 20:00). We often meet at The Woodman, but sometimes elsewhere - if you are not planning to come to training first, it is probably a good idea to send us an email to find out where we will be! These training sessions are to practise vertical caving techniques.

If you want to chat in the forum or add trip reports, you will first need to get an account here. Do not use your Durham University (ITS) username or password.
