Student Planning & Assessment

Assessment

Overview

These pages provide information about the examinations and assessment process.

Anonymous Candidate Codes

Durham University operates an anonymous marking scheme for examination papers. Prior to examinations, all students will be issued with anonymous candidate codes which should be written in the appropriate space on answer booklets during exams. Further information about the anonymous marking scheme can be found in Section 6.3.12 of the Learning and Teaching Handbook

Students who forget to bring their anonymous codes to their examinations must write their names on their exam papers instead. In other words, the penalty for not bringing your code is that your paper will not be marked anonymously.

Absence from Examinations

Candidates for examinations are responsible for noting correctly the dates, times and location of their examinations.

No special arrangements can be made for candidates who fail to attend for examination at the proper time, if such failure is due to their mistake or inadvertence and not to illness or other serious and unavoidable cause.

Further details can be found in section 6.3.10 of the Learning and Teaching Handbook
