The School of Government and International Affairs is committed to a flourishing and diverse research culture and to developing its international standing as a centre of research excellence. The School contains two University level Research Centres, Centre for Contemporary Chinese Studies, Centre for the History of Political Thought, and a collaborative research programme, Centre for the Advanced Study of the Arab World.
In the last Research Assessment Exercise (RAE 2008) the School was awarded 'world leading' and 'international excellence' for 50% of it's research output, 30% of 'international quality' and 20% of national quality. This is an excellent result for School and it is strongly committed to building on this achievement in the next research exercise in 2013. The School seeks to continue building an inclusive research environment, in which the diverse interests and activities of its members of staff and its graduate students are all equally respected and encouraged.
