SUMMARY:Energy & Security Seminar Series: Seminar 3 - Energy Security and 
 the Big Society
DESCRIPTION:The DEI autumn Energy Challenge seminar series aims to develop
  a cross-disciplinary dialogue on the broad issue of energy and security. 
 As such, the series will not present the latest research on the subje
 ct of energy and security, but instead seeks to cultivate a multidisciplin
 ary dialogue on the topic, involving as wide an array of interests as poss
 ible. The ultimate aim of the seminar series is to produce a DEI 'position
  paper' on the issue of energy and security. Please email a.m.norton@durha
 m.ac.uk to register for this event.The third of a planned series
  of 3 meetings will be led by Professor J Gluyas (Earth Sciences) and Dr A
  Baldwin (Geography). The seminar will include 2 short presentations that 
 address the linkages between energy and the Big Society, one from a social
  scientist and one from a physical scientist.  A guided discussion wi
 ll follow both presentations.  A portion of the seminar will also be 
 used to brainstorm ideas that might be included in the DEI position paper 
 on energy security. Buffet lunch is available from 11:45, with seminar beg
 inning at 12:00.  Please indicate any dietary requirements when 
 registering.
