SUMMARY:Introduction to Industrial Printing Technology and PETEC (Printabl
 e Electronics Technology Centre)
DESCRIPTION:Introduction by Prof Petty. Many conventional display fabrica
tion equipments require high vacuum and high temperature condition. So pr
inting process and equipments are widely investigated recently due to the
processibilities at room temperature and atmospheric pressure condition.
Key printing technologies such as inkjet printing, screen printing and aer
osol jet printing will be introduced. PETEC (Printable Electronics Techno
logy Centre) based in NETPark, Sedgefield is developing plastic (organic)
electronics based on solution printing process technology. PETEC is targe
ting development of flexible devices such as flexible e-paper based on org
anic transistor, flexible OLED, organic photovoltaic, solid state lighting
etc. The facility includes a 600m2 cleanroom with class 1000 (class 100
for the lithography area) and is supported by fully equipped formulations
and electrical measurement laboratories. The initial focus of work is dev
elopment of printed transistor backplanes for flexible displays. This ver
satile equipment set will also allow proof of concept products to be made
in the area of solid state lighting and organic photovoltaics in the near
 future.
