DESCRIPTION:14th June - 25th July New Storylines for Living with Environme
 ntal Change. This is a unique opportunity to see music and art working tog
 ether with Durham&#8217;s research. Composer Trevor Wishart and artist Ing
 rid Sylvestre will be showcasing their work, created as part of joint proj
 ects with the UniversityComposer Trevor Wishart, the maverick of digital o
 pera, has created a music installation from his Encounters project develop
 ed from recordings he made in homes, schools, and meeting-places in the No
 rtheast. The installation presents a number of speech-portraits of local p
 eople accompanied by imaginary musical instruments derived directly from t
 he voices we hear.  Ingrid Sylvestre has been working as the Associate Art
 ist for Durham University&#8217;s Institute of Advanced Study series of ev
 ents &#8216;New storylines for living with environmental change&#8217;. In
 grid has made extensive visual records of the events during these events, 
 many of which she has worked up into larger artworks. The exhibition shows
  a selection of her works from this series, ranging from small drawings ma
 de during meetings, to large interpretations on canvas. A booklet of the i
 mages, with text, will also be available for purchase at the exhibition.
