SUMMARY:Flowermen Art Exhibition by Liz Sparks
DESCRIPTION:Liz Sparks is a Nottinghamshire based artist with a degree in
Fine Art from Sheffield Hallam University and City and Guilds Certificate
in Constructed Textiles for which she was nominated for a gold award of ex
cellence in 2011. Her work explores the physicality of the human body, its
relationship to our environment and the tension of the dynamic between th
e two.The paper floral presentations in "Flower men" reaffirm the sensuali
ty of human touch by focussing on our relationship with plants. Insp
ired by the "Language of Flowers", Liz ventured out as an avid plant
explorer during the summer of 2011, engaging with fellow plant lovers, ch
ancing upon hidden floral expressions. Her work is a playful interpr
etation of traditional Victorian social etiquette. Here the subtle innuend
o of floral encounters becomes enriched anew by the worldly desires and as
pirations of today's men and women. Liz is an active member of the Backlit
studios, www.backlit.org.uk , a diverse group of Nottingham based experim
ental artists. For more information on Liz's work please visit www.lizspar
