Conference for Teachers of Geography
Durham University recently held an exciting and innovative Conference for Teachers of Geography during 11th to 13th April 2012. The conference was provided to all delegates free of charge. The programme included sessions by academic members of staff on a wide variety of topics within both Physical and Human Geography, as well as a session on University admissions.
This conference was open to all Geography teachers looking to further their knowledge.The main aims of the conference were:
- To support professional development by providing enhanced knowledge and practical resources to take back into the classroom.
- To extend and deepen subject knowledge through interaction with internationally recognized academics and by providing up-to-date research from a world-class Department of Geography.
- Enthuse and encourage those working with students with a keen interest in Geography.
- Empower teachers to give their students the best possible guidance and support to students who are considering Higher Education.
The conference was held at Durham University's St John's College and included two nights' full board accommodation and social activities, including a formal meal and entertainment.
