      The Access and Student Recruitment Team hosts a series of FREE residential subject-specific conferences for teachers.

      The Higher Education Advisers' Conference is designed to support colleagues who work in schools and sixth form colleges and who play a key role advising students about higher education choices and admission. All schools are welcome to send representatives.

      The HE Advisers' eNewsletter is designed to support and advise colleagues who work in schools and sixth form colleges and play a key role in advising students about higher education choices and admission. It contains updates on the Admissions process at Durham University, and information on resources designed to support students.

  • Residential Student Programmes

    • Supported Progression Programme

      Supported Progression is a scheme for talented students studying in the North East and Cumbria who have the potential to study at a university like Durham and who will benefit from additional help and support to reach their full potential. There are two phases to the scheme: pre-16 and post-16.

      Durham University is a partner in the Sutton Trust's Summer School programme. The summer schools are designed to give bright students from non-privileged homes a taste of life at a leading university.

The Access and Student Recruitment Team works with students and schools around the UK, throughout the year, on a variety of programmes. Our aim is to recruit the best students for the courses that the University offers, irrespective of background, and to support the applications of those who are applying through expert advice and guidance. Our staff are knowledgeable admissions advisers with a wide-ranging experience of the Higher Education sector. We can provide guidance on many aspects of the application process, including admissions tests and personal statements.
