Biography

Greg Rubin is a GP and Professor of General Practice and Primary Care at Durham University. His principal research interest is the management of gastrointestinal problems in primary care and at the interface with secondary care, particularly for cancer and inflammatory bowel disease, and he has published extensively on this subject. He heads the National Audit of Cancer Diagnosis in Primary Care on behalf of the Royal College of General Practitioners. He recently completed a term as Chair of the European Society for Primary Care Gastroenterology. He also chairs the Royal College of General Practitioners’ Scientific Foundation Board.

He has extensive experience of working with Primary Care Trusts on the organisation of health care services and in his present role heads a team of researchers that supports the evaluation, research and development agenda associated with commissioning of health care.

Greg Rubin has given invited international lectures on the management of gastrointestinal disorders at United European Gastroenterology Week (2004, 2005, 2006), WONCA-Europe (2003, 2004, 2005), to the Italian Society of Gastroenterology (2005, 2006) and to the Norwegian Primary Care Congress (2007). He has also given invited lectures on organisation of health services at regional and national conferences, such as the British Society of Gastroenterology ASM (2008).
