Travelling between Durham and Stockton
By car
It takes about 35 minutes between the two campuses.
- Durham to Stockton: leave Durham by the A177 and after passing the University Sports Centre on the left, take the first left (B1198) which soon becomes the A181. Keep on this road until it reaches the A19. Take the A19 southbound towards Teesside and after crossing the Tees follow Stockton signs on to the A66. (Note, on the A19 the first exit sign-posted for the A66 is to Middlesbrough, not Stockton. Remain on the A19 until the the next exit which is signposted as the A66 to Darlington.) Take the first exit and follow the signs for Teesdale and University Campus.
- Stockton to Durham: Leave the Campus by East Drive. Turn left and follow signs for A66/A19. Take the A19 northbound to the junction with the A181. Turn left and follow the A181 to Durham.
By bus
There are regular trains and buses. In term-time a University campus shuttle bus runs between Harvard Avenue (outside Queen's Campus) to Stockton town centre, then to Durham, calling at the Maiden Castle sports centre, the Science Site, New Elvet and the bus station. Timetable and other details are available on the Queen's Campus travel website.
