The School is excited to announce the launch of an MSc in Public Policy and Global Health. This research-led MSc celebrates and underpins the rapid expansion of the Centre for Public Policy and Health. Joining our internationally renowned staff are Professor Ted Schrecker of the Bruyere Institute in Ottawa, Dr Michele Castelli, and several young enthusiastic researchers and educators. Together with a realignment of the Wolfson Research Institute for Health & Wellbeing, these appointments signal the commitment of the University to becoming a centre of excellence for research and education in pursuit of global health and wellbeing.

Our new MSc adopts a multidisciplinary international approach to exploring global public policy and health issues and developing the skills needed to address them. It deepens understanding of key issues of our times regarding the importance of the basics of life such environment, food and food policy, and approaches to sexuality. It especially seeks to develop the acumen and impact of students as future leaders within national and international organisations fostering population health and wellbeing through effective and ethical policy and practice. Places are available for the 2013-14 academic year.

Our hallmark is innovation at local and international levels and we seek to make a difference in the quality of care provided to people. We aim to equip our students for life long learning against a background of ever evolving knowledge and health systems. We employ modern teaching methods and new technologies to deliver service relevant undergraduate medical training, postgraduate courses and research. Our research themes cut across boundaries and include clinical topics, particularly around earlier diagnosis and intervention, care pathways across organisational boundaries, health policy and economics and the medical humanities. By maintaining close links with the NHS and with concerns about inequalities and deprivation we provide an academic interface for those at the frontline of health and medical care.
