Biography

My research falls into three areas: (1) economic sociology broadly and more specifically entrepreneurship with an empirical focus on China's economic and political development; (2) the effects of social relations on mental wellbeing, with a focus on loneliness, anxiety and depression across different age groups; (3) the logic and principles of research design and research methods.

Currently I am the Director of Taught Postgraduate Research Methods Programmes, and I teach three postgraduate modules: Research Design and Process, Qualitative Research Methods, and Categorical Data Analysis (previously Computer-Based Application in Social Research).
