Fathering Within Child Welfare
A research project of the School of Applied Social Sciences.
This project, funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) in Canada, involves several Canadian universities and Durham. Based in the University of Victoria, Professor Dominelli as co-applicant, is involved in identifying the invisibility of men in social work practices within the child welfare system (attach project website link here). The project has another year to run and is intended to improve policy and practice regarding men’s contact with social workers and their children. The project builds on Professor Dominelli’s earlier work on gender relations, masculinity and the impact of globalisation on social work practice.
