Ms Sue Alderson
Biography
Sue Alderson joined Durham University as a Research Associate in December 2008. She has worked on research projects with Dr Nicole Westmarland and is a member of the Crime, Violence and Abuse Research Group. She is currently undertaking a PhD which looks at outcomes for children and young people whose father/ father figure is participating on a community based domestic violence perpetrator programme. This research forms part of a wider study funded by the ESRC and Northern Rock Foundation and examines the process of engagement within perpetrator programmes for men, their female partners, children, and programme workers, and evaluates what success and change means.
Sue particularly enjoys working in the community and has a long standing interest in domestic violence, gender violence and gender justice, sexual violence, and qualitative methods of inquiry, particularly feminist methodologies. She is committed to undertaking research that can inform both policy and practice in the area of violence against women.
