Biography
Samantha Ismaile is PhD student in The Medical Education Research Group in the School of Medicine and Health at Durham University. Her first degree was a BSc (Hons) in Nursing from Hashemite University in Jordan.
She worked as a bank agency nurse for 5 years in Central London. Most of her work experiences were based on Medical, Surgical, NeuroRehab, and Paediatrics in private and NHS hospitals (Great Ormond Hospital, Royal Brompton Hospital, London Clinic, London Bridge Hospital and The Willington Hospital).
She studied part time at Durham University’s School of Medicine and Health for her Masters degree in Medical Education from 2007-2009; she was awarded her Masters degree in January 2010. Samantha really enjoyed doing her masters degree and decided to continue on at Durham to work towards her PhD, also in Medical Education. The support she received and the learning facilities provided during her Masters course were factors that helped Samantha decide to continue her studies at Durham University.
Samantha’s PhD studies are also with the School of Medicine and Health and under the supervision of Professor John McLachlan and Dr. Marina Sawdon. Her research interests are on factors promoting and inhibiting guideline adherence among nurses. Since commencing her PhD studies, Samantha has entered a poster competition and presented a poster at a student conference. She is planning to attend professional conferences and preparing for the publication of research papers.
