Yacht Sailing
Durhams Yachting team has grown significantly over the last few years. We have sent teams to take part in both fleet racing and match racing events and have also put on shorebased RYA courses. Even if you have never done yachting before you can still get involved, whilst some team members are seasoned yachtsmen and women (with the salt stained oilskins to prove it!) others have tried out yachting for the first time whilst at uni.

For the last few years we have sent two teams to compete at the Student Nationals which are held in Portsmouth during the Easter holidays on Sunfast 37s. This event is great fun and proceeded by the "Tankbuster" weekend in which we race against the Durham oldboys team.
Although we donīt have a strong yacht cruising section of the club - largely due to Durhamīs geographic location - we are hoping to organise some cruising over the summer after exams.
We have recently begun to enter teams into the student match racing championships once again. We are hoping to continue to build on last years performance in the coming season.
