Inaugural Lecture Series
A new public Inaugural Lecture Series (ILS) has been launched with lectures to be given by recently appointed or promoted Chairs, and proposed by their faculties. Academic departments may hold their own inaugural lectures for colleagues who would prefer to address a purely academic audience.
The lectures will vary in content areas as speakers will be from the entire range of subject areas across the University, however they will all showcase the world-leading research taking place here in Durham. The series will be a great opportunity for the Chairs to extend the reach of their research to the wider community as the widely-advertised lectures will be open to staff, students and members of the public.
The Series will include up to four lectures per term which will generally take place on a Thursday at 6pm and will be hosted by one of the University’s 16 colleges. A drinks reception will follow each lecture.
The lectures will all be filmed and will be available to view here, shortly after each event.
All inaugural lectures are free and open to everyone, though anyone wishing to attend should reserve a place via the online system (links can be found next to individual events listed below).
