Biography

Formerly Head of Music in a Comprehensive School, now a self - employed musician, mainly in the Jazz and Big-Band area, as a Keyboard and Trumpet player. Gavin has been active as Composer and Arranger in most areas of music, and is published by STUDIO MUSIC COMPANY LONDON.
Extensive experience as a Conductor of Brass and Wind Bands, having taken Ensembles to the "Festival of Music for Youth" at the Royal Festival Hall on three occasions.
Piano accompanist for a renowned Youth Choir, undertaking tours to Israel, Yugoslavia (Croatia as is) Austria, Hungary, Poland, Czechoslovakia and the U.S.A
Works as an Adjudicator at Music Festivals, and has adjudicated at the "Brass in Concert" Championship, now held at the Sage Gateshead. Also wrote the test piece "North East Fantasy" for that same Championship in 1981.
