Biography

Ian Greener is Professor in the School of Applied Social Sciences and Director of the North East Doctoral Training Centre at Durham.

Ian has worked in Higher Education since 1997 including (amongst others) posts at the Universities of York and Manchester. Before that he worked as an accountant in the NHS.

He has published in a wide range of journals in social policy, sociology, political science and organisation studies. He is a member of the Department of Health's Health Service and Delivery Research commissioning Board, as well as commissioning research on their RISC research programme. He is currently a member of the SPA Executive, and on the editorial Board of the journal Social Policy and Administration. He welcomes applications from potential PhD students in the areas of social policy reform, particular with respect to healthcare.
