Biography

I have just begun a funded PhD project reappraising the life and works of the Soviet composer Aram Khachaturian, roughly fifty years after his death, and following the collapse of the Soviet Union.  By providing one of the first substantial biographies and critical analysis of Khachaturian's music in English, I hope to extend the knowledge of this important and influential composer in the Western world.  In doing this I will undertake archival research in Moscow in addition to my own analyses.
