Objectives

To carry out research that is both of international and regional significance in the areas of health policy, management, and public health

To stress the importance of research that explores and leads to interventions in relation to the ‘implementation gap’ between policy and practice

To strengthen the evidence-base in respect of policy, health policy and its value for and impact on policy and practice

To develop appropriate postgraduate teaching programmes in health systems and public policy and continuing professional development short courses in leadership in order to exploit the research findings and encourage their take-up and application to practice
