Department of Psychology

Entrance Requirements

Entrance Requirements - Psychology (C800)

The Department accepts a wide range of entry qualifications including GCE and VCE A levels.  For further details, including our typical offer, please refer to the Durham University undergraduate degree programme database at:  www.durham.ac.uk/courses

We do not ask for any specific A levels but we do not include General Studies or Critical Thinking in our offers. The equivalent offers for other qualifications can be found here.

We also ask that applicants have at least Grade C in GCSE Maths (or its equivalent) in order to help you deal with the statistical element of the programme.

All of our degree programmes start psychology from scratch and do not assume prior specialist knowledge. We therefore assume that our applicants have not studied psychology, but we welcome application from those who have.

For more information about Psychology (C800) please see the course information here

International Students

We welcome applicants from International Students. School-leaving qualifications from many countries are acceptable. Please contact international.office@durham.ac.uk for advice on whether your own qualifications are acceptable.

It is the normal expectation that candidates for admission should be able to demonstrate satisfactory English Language proficiency before the start of a programme of study. Candidates who are not native speakers of English should therefore either: within two years prior to admission have been taught and passed the University's entry requirements using the English Language or have recently passed an English Language proficiency test recognised by Durham University at the required level, for example the IELTS test (6.5, no element below 6.0). Please contact the international.office@durham.ac.uk if you need more information about which English Language qualifications are acceptable.
