Providing Fellowships for Sri Lankan scholars

Ms Sajini Pathiraja

Grey College has linked with Project Sri Lanka to provide an Annie Holdgate Fellowship. Ms Sajini Pathiraja held this fellowship for the year 2007-2008 in order to study for am MA by Research on the subject of eco-villages.

Hatfield College provided a College Fellowship for Ms Bianca Abeygoonawardane in the Michaelmas Term of 2007. Ms Abeygoonawardane researched the subjects of model villages and early childhood education.

Professor Weerasinghe

In 2008 Professor Subasinghe, Professor of Crop Sciences in the Faculty of Agriculture at the University of Ruhuna, spent a research term living in Van Mildert College and working with colleagues in the Department of Biological and Bio-Medical sciences. This was enabled by a Commonwealth Fellowship and supported by Project Sri Lanka.

In 2010 Professor Weerasinghe, former Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture at the University of Ruhuna, will be spending a term in Hatfield College engaging in collaborative research with Professor Tim Burt of our Geography Department. Professor Weerasinghe will be an affiliate of the Institute of Advanced Studies at Durham.
