Female Entrepreneurship Workshop

Ms Dinah Bennett, Director of the Centre for Entrepreneurial Learning at Durham conducted a workshop in Colombo on February 27th 2008 for business support organisations working in the field of female entrepreneurship.
This workshop was aimed at exploring the potential of women entrepreneurs in Sri Lanka to develop as strong and coherent contributors towards the national economy.

It considered the current environment of women's economic empowerment and entrepreneurship in Sri Lanka in comparison to the UK. Key areas of interest were identified to realising Women's Entrepreneurship leading to Women's Economic Empowerment and discussions took place as to how to develop active partnerships between Sri Lanka and the UK in the areas of women empowerment through entrepreneurship.
Workshop participants included The Ministry of Child Development and Women's Affairs, local women's organisations which are engaged in women empowerment and entrepreneurship development and local women entrepreneurs.
