Bioethics Workshop
Villa Ocean View, Wadduwa, Sri Lanka, 3-4 March 2008
A residential workshop supported by UNESCO, the National Science Foundation of Sri Lanka and Durham University and led by two staff members from Durham, Dr Simon James of Philosophy, and Dr Salla Sariola of Anthropology. The workshop was attended by approximately 45 university teachers in the fields of biology, environmental science, agricultural science, vetinerary science and medicine. Sessions addressed ethical theory, curriculum design and teaching approaches, as well as the ethical implications of abortion, euthanasia, stem cell research, research using human subjects, animal experimentation, environmental issues and genetic engineering.
