British Council Funding Awards

(11 February 2010)

New Year 2010 has begun with the excellent news that we have been successful in gaining two British Council PMI2 (Prime Minister's Initiative) awards.

The first of these is for a partnership programme with the Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka entitled 'Developing Entrepreneurship through Collaborative Programme Delivery. This programme will be headed up by Dinah Bennett, Director of Durham's Centre for Entrepreneurial Learning. The aim is to jointly develop and teach a Post Graduate Certificate and Diploma and also an undergraduate module on the subject of 'Developing Entrepreneurship through New Venture Creation' which will be based at the Sabaragamuwa University. Scoping and pilot delivery for these new courses will commence in 2010.

Success was also gained in a bid for continuation PMI2 Student Mobility funding, to continue the development of our 'University Village' concept in Sri Lanka, in both the Southern Province and the Sabaragamuwa Province of the island. Further details of the student programmes will be found on the 'Student Involvement' pages of this website.
