Judaism

The University's Jewish Society is one of the fastest growing in the country. In partnership with the University and UJS Hillel, it holds weekly events open to all Jewish students and staff of the University.

These events are held in St Aidan's College, Durham and include a weekly Sabbath dinner cooked in our dedicated Kosher kitchen. The catering, serving kosher meat meals only, conforms to Jewish dietary law for the preparation of Sabbath and Festival meals. The facilities are also available for other events including speakers, meals, film nights and festival celebrations which occur on a regular basis.

The University offers self-contained accommodation for women in the Shepherd Wing of St Mary's College and can provide single-sex flats in some of our self-catering accommodation at Josephine Butler College, Ustinov College, Stephenson College, John Snow College and St Cuthbert's Society.

Our main meal provision, in catered colleges, and self-catering kitchens in non-catered colleges are not Kosher but alternative arrangements may be possible for individuals if required.

If you would like to discuss any special requirements linked to your faith, please contact the College(s) you are interested in for further information about available facilities.
