Christianity

Both Durham City and University have a strong Christian heritage - as testified by Durham's magnificent cathedral. There are many Christian churches located in Durham and Stockton, including Anglican, Catholic, Methodist, Baptist and United Reform denominations.

Colleges

Many of our colleges have a Christian chaplain and multi-denominational chapels with regular Sunday services. These colleges will also often hold special celebrations, such as carol services and other events, held throughout the year.

University Chaplains

In addition to the chaplains based in individual colleges, the University provides access to chaplains who serve the needs of all students, regardless of their college. These chaplains usually represent non-Anglican Christian denominations. DUECC

DUECC is a student ecumenical body that seeks to co-ordinate Chaplaincy and Christian groups at Durham University. The group works with the Chaplains to organise University wide worship and study groups. It helps to organise the Cathedral Candlelit procession for students starting at Prebends Bridge. The chair of DUECC is an undergraduate, Laura Baker from St John's College.
