The Arts
The Arts thrive at Durham University. Whether you're into painting or music or theatre; directing, managing or performing, you'll find it here. And if you don't, then you'll have every opportunity to set something up yourself. You can get involved in the arts at both university-level and within your own college. The possibilities are endless!

If performing isn't your thing, then Durham offers many other ways in which to enjoy and engage with the arts. The University is home to wonderful art collections, many of which are owned by and displayed within the Colleges. There is a lively student art scene with exhibtions from societies held throughout the year to showcase student talent.

The University has developed close links with the annual Durham Book Festival which brings national and interantional writers to the city. By creating a post of 'Festival Laureate' we have enabled our students to work with Sir Andrew Motion and Simon Armitage and to take part in festival events as volunteers.
