A Journal and Forum for Postgraduates in English since 2000

The aim of the journal since its launch in 2000 has been to provide a space in which postgraduates in English throughout the UK and Europe can place their work and, if accepted for publication, receive a little feedback on it. One section provides for academic articles (which are refereed) and another devoted to papers on postgraduate issues (which need not be refereed).

The journal will also be pleased to act either as a forum or archive for any conferences specifically aimed at postgraduates.

Students currently enrolled as research postgraduates in English in the U.K. or elsewhere in Europe  are welcome to submit papers of not more than 7,000 words. Presentation should conform to the guidelines of the MLA handbook (please consult submission guidelines below). An academic paper received will be sent to the suitably qualified member of the editorial board. Non-academic papers will be assessed by the editors. Papers accepted for publication will be published with a brief section of anonymous feedback from the referee. This service cannot be rendered for rejected papers.

The editors reserve the right to return papers that have evidently been under-prepared, before any referees are involved.

Papers intended for the journal may be despatched at any time to the address given below (though deadlines may be announced for specific issues in our various calls for papers)

The journal's editor (or editors) is a member of the postgraduate body at the Department of English Studies at University of Durham, with the support of the Department's IT Officer as Advisory Editor.

Articles in this e-journal are normally copyright to the University of Durham. Copyright of papers reverts to their authors upon republication elsewhere (e.g. as a book or a thesis). Articles may be quoted, downloaded or printed freely for academic or non-profit-making purposes, providing due acknowledgment is made to authors or
copyright holders, and to
Postgraduate English.

Articles should be between 5000 and 7000 words per item.

2. A document where all information identifying the author has been removed – this should be saved as ‘For Review’ file.

Style Guide:

Þ All articles need to comply with the MLA style guide with references included in footnotes rather than as in-text parenthetical citations. Þ Font: 12pt, Times New Roman

Þ Alignment: Left

Þ Margins: 1 inch/2.54 cm all around.

Þ Long quotations (more than three lines): included in the text as block quotations, single spaced, indentation increased by 1.27 cm on both sides.

Þ Page numbers: plain number, bottom centre of the page.

Þ Authors are responsible for obtaining permission to reproduce any material in which they do not own copyright, to be used in print and electronic media and for ensuring that the appropriate acknowledgements are included in their manuscript
