Frequently-asked questions
Why do Level 3 students who undertook their project work in the Michaelmas Term not receive their feedback until after Easter?
As you will see from the Level 3 feedback policy, feedback on the Computing Project, Laboratory Project and Team Project is provided in the Easter Term, irrespective of the term in which the project was actually undertaken. The reason is that the reports from both Michaelmas Term and Epiphany Term are marked together, in the first few weeks of Easter Term. This is done in the interests of fairness, to try to ensure consistency of assessment for both terms' students. This approach is taken despite the fact that, in some ways, it would actually be easier for the Department to mark the reports in two batches. It is also the case that there is no strong pedagogic need for students to receive the feedback on these reports any earlier, since each activity is undertaken not more than once by each student. In fact, it could be argued that making the feedback on the Michaelmas Term projects available in Epiphany Term might give an unfair advantage to the students who are undertaking those projects in Epiphany Term.
I hope that you find this information helpful. If you have any comments about it then, as ever, please let one of the SSCC reps know so that they can be fed back.
