Title: The Matter of the Instantiation of Universals in Aristotle

Abstract:

I will propose a new conception of matter in Aristotle, which offers a general and unifying conception of a number of different types of matter Aristotle introduces into his system. This will involve examination of a range of positions of Aristotle such as: matter as pure potentiality; intelligible matter of mathematical entities; the particularity of substances; and the uniqueness of the Prime Mover.
