Durham's own Donnchadh O'Conaill and Maebh Long (English department) presented our final talk of the term, entitled "Identity, Difference and Meaning: Philosophical Remarks on Derrida". Maebh Long, from the English Dep't, made a fascinating response to his paper.

David Sedley from the University of Cambridge gave a talk entitled "The Sphericity of God in Greek Philosophy".

Monica Pearl from the University of Manchester gave a talk entitled "The Opera Closet: Ardor, Shame, Queer Confessions"

David Knowles gave a talk entitled "Bully Glares At Anti-Bully: The Story of Morality"

Jonardon Ganeri from the University of Sussex gave a talk entitled "Philosophy and Estrangement".

Sam Cane of Durham University gave a talk entitled "The Rights of the Dead: Kantian moral theory and Forensic Archaeology merged".

Ian Kidd of Durham University gave a talk entitled "A future without Science?"

Peter Lamarque from the University of York gave a talk entitled 'The Loss and Survival of works of art".

Berys Gaut of St. Andrews University gave a talk entitled "Creativity and Evil".

Simon Blackburn of Cambridge University gave a talk entitled "Can Analytic Philosophers Read Poetry?".

Dr. William Child gave a talk on "Vision and Causal Understanding" on Tuesday the 24th of November.

Professor Eileen John spoke on "Humour and Ethical Influence". The short stories that she spoke about are available here.

Professor Stephen Read gave a fascinating lecture entitled "A Medieval Solution to the Liar Paradox". The overheads from this lecture can be viewed here and the main body of his argument can be viewed here.
