Welcome to the DUOS Website
Thanks for visiting the website of Durham University Orchestral Society, the university's leading orchestral society comprising Durham University Symphony Orchestra and Durham University Chamber Orchestra. DUOS prides itself on being entirely student run, and covers a large array of demanding orchestral repertoire throughout the academic year.
Members of the society are not only privileged to be a part of a friendly community of talented musicians, but have the opportunity to receive coaching from members of the BBC Symphony and Northern Sinfonia Orchestras. DUOS also embarks on an annual tour abroad during the Easter vacation period; in recent years destinations have included Barcelona and Vienna

There are lots of exciting events in the DUOS calendar coming up. The first of these is a concert in collaberation with Proffesor Jeremy Dibble and the Stanford Society, where our Chamber Orchestra will be performing the world premier of Charles Villiers Stanford's 2nd Violin Concerto, orchestrated by Professor Dibble. The concert will be performed in Durham Cathedral on the 2nd March, and will also feature a performance of Tchaikovsky's Manfred Symphony performed by our Symphony Orchestra. As if this was enough material to get stuck in to, we also have a chamber concert on the near horizon featuring music including Beethoven's Symphony No. 3, and DUOS's annual tour abroad - this year in Venice! Further concert details will be released soon.
